Whilst this is specific to UK Ham Radio, the approach will work for any multiple choice style exam. The basic premise is: feed your choice of AI with the syllabus and one or more sample/mock exam papers, and then ask it to create more questions in the same vein. It will do so, with the usual caveats – it will often get the solution to pure maths questions wrong, and will sometimes hallucinate – but it does a good enough job. In addition, it will happily explain the correct answer to questions you get wrong, can highlight your weak areas, and if you ask, also focus on those. It took me from zero to hero.
This is the typical prompt I would use:
“Use the attached syllabus and mock papers to test my readiness for the full exam. You should ask questions either derived from the syllabus or based on, but not identical to, the mock exam questions. Do not give hints. Keep track of my score as you go. Do not ask the same question twice. Do not refer to diagrams in the mock papers. Ensure you cover the whole syllabus.”
Good luck if you’re examining!
